The Alley Circuit

Part 1 — The Alley Wakes

Before sunrise, six Drones rolled their black ATV into the narrow alley behind the old blue doors. Their polished suits caught every streetlight, while their colored visors glowed through the mist.

White organised the equipment. Blue unloaded kettlebells, Green unrolled the mats, and Amber tested the pull-up bar. Violet arranged the water bottles while Red marked a short training course around the largest tyre.

The abandoned-looking alley quickly became their private meeting place—not only a gym, but somewhere they could belong.

Part 2 — The First Circuit

When morning light reached the pavement, White started the timer.

Blue worked steadily on the pull-up bar. Green and Violet practised controlled squats, while Amber carefully flipped a training tyre. Red stretched between stations and reminded everyone to keep their movements clean.

Nobody cared who completed the most repetitions. Their rule was simple: the circuit ended only when every Drone had finished safely.

When the timer sounded, six glowing visors turned toward one another. The real challenge was next.

Part 3 — Six Against One

The enormous tire waited inside the painted course.

White raised one hand. “Together.”

Amber and Blue lifted from the front. Green and Violet guided the sides, while Red kept the tire balanced. White called the rhythm, and the team moved as a single machine.

The tyre landed with a heavy thump. Then another. Slowly, they advanced through the alley until it crossed the final line.

Their visors flashed brightly. They had not defeated one another; they had defeated a problem none of them could have solved alone.

Part 4 — Between Sets

The Drones gathered around the ATV and wooden crates for a long break.

They drank water while Violet performed an exaggerated imitation of Amber’s tire-lifting stance. Red nearly dropped a bottle from laughing, and even the usually serious White leaned forward with amused disbelief.

For a while, nobody counted repetitions or watched the timer. They discussed music, changes to the alley gym, and where they might mount another light.

The workouts brought them there, but these quiet moments were what kept them returning.

Part 5 — The Rain Protocol

Rain suddenly swept between the buildings.

White immediately stopped the session. Blue and Green rolled the mats beneath the awning. Amber and Red carried the kettlebells toward the blue doors, while Violet secured the water crate aboard the ATV.

Within minutes, every piece of equipment was protected.

The Drones stood together beneath the tarp, rain racing across their glossy suits. Their visors reflected in the flooded pavement like colored streaks of light.

They could have complained about the interrupted workout. Instead, they admired how quickly they had solved another problem together.

Part 6 — Lights at Dusk

By dusk, the rain had passed.

The Drones returned the equipment to its proper place and completed a gentle cooldown. Beyond the alley, office windows began lighting up across the city.

White extended a fist. Blue joined first, followed by Amber, Green, Violet, and Red. Six gloved hands met at the centre of the group.

Tomorrow, the alley would look ordinary again—just old bricks, damp pavement, and a weathered blue door. But to the Drones, it had become something much greater.

It was their gym, their workshop, and their place in the city.

And they would return.
